Sacred Heart Villa School, All Saints Celebration
Catholic Schools’ Week: Catholic Schools’ Week is a time that we recognize and show our appreciation for Catholic education. This is celebrated by all Catholic Schools in the Buffalo Diocese at the end of January. Children carry out various activities in the school during Catholic Schools’ Week to show their appreciation for Catholic education. You will receive more Information on this event as the time approaches. Field Day: Field Day is a fun day for all students and Villa community. It gives the students an opportunity to show what they have learned in a Physical Education class throughout the entire school year. Parents and grandparents are welcome to come for this event. Science Fair: Science Fair takes place at the beginning of February of each school year. Students in grades Kindergarten to Fifth participate in this event. Each student has the responsibility to prepare a Science project on any area of interest or based on the topic area that they are covering in the classroom. Students in Kindergarten to First grade present and explain their projects to their classmates, while students in Second through Fifth grade explain their Science projects before the judges from Niagara University. May Crowning: Mary is the perfect follower of Christ. She remained steadfastly in close union with her Son and persevered in prayer with the Church. Thus, in a renowned way, she won the “crown of life” (Rev 2:10), the “crown of righteousness” (II Tim 4:8), the “crown of life” and the “crown of glory” (I Pet 5:4) that is promised to those who follow Christ. During the Month of May — a month dedicated to Mary — Catholics have long honored her by placing a crown on her image. The Sacred Heart Villa School tradition has been for school children to have a “May Crowning” ceremony, with a rosary procession and fresh flowers to honor Mary. Christmas Giving Tree: Christmas is a time to give and share with others. Therefore, Christmas giving tree is a fun activity for children at Villa to teach them how to give to others rather than to receive. A student picks a name of a poor child, buys something for that child. That’s what Christmas is all about! Silent Auction: Silent Auction is a special fundraising event to support Sacred Heart Villa School. It happens once a year. All students benefit from this event.
