October 1, 2024

Dear Parents:

Welcome to another new month. October is a month dedicated to our Blessed Mother Mary, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, a feast we celebrate on October 7th
. We encourage all Catholic Christians to pray the Rosary as a family throughout this month.

As part of the precautionary measures in regard to COVID, we encourage everyone at Villa to continue doing what it takes to ensure the good health of all. If your child is sick and has COVID symptoms, keep him/her at home and monitor symptoms for at least 48 hours. Please make sure it clears off before returning back to school. Thank you always for your cooperation.

Fire Prevention Week 2024 is from October 6 to 12th . The Firemen will come to our school to review the Fire safety rules with our students on October 4th at 9:00 AM.

October 7th, 2024 is the Feast of our Lady of the Holy Rosary. We will celebrate this feast with Mass at 9:30 AM

October 11, 2024 is the Diocesan Teachers’ Professional Day at St. Mary’s High School, Lancaster. No student attendance.

October 14, 2024 is the Indigenous /Columbus Day. There will be No school.

The school field trip to Becker’s Farm will be on October 23, 2024. It is a school day and an educational field trip for the students. Our tour will begin at 10:30 AM, so we’ll leave from the school at 9: 30 AM. The permission slip has been sent home. Please fill out the permission slip and the driver’s information
and return to the school by October 2nd if you have not done so already. Please, we need drivers for this event.

The school picture proofs will be sent home first week of October. Once you get your child/children’s picture, select your picture choice and return them to the school as soon as possible. It will make it easier for us to have all the pictures back before Thanksgiving break.

Protecting God’s Children program will take place on October 30, 2024. Empowering God’s Children Program lesson 5 is a safety lesson designed for grades Kindergarten through grade 12. The instructional materials are age/grade-appropriate to empower children and the youths to protect themselves and increase their safety through in-person or online situations (details will follow). We’ll provide this instruction in our classrooms. Parents who opt-out are urged to instruct the age/grade
appropriate curriculum with their children at home and return the worksheet. The curriculum is available at your request. Please contact Sr. Grace if you need it.

Candy Bar sale will end on October 30th. Thanks to all our parents for your participation in selling the Candy bars. Please return the money for the Candy bars sold and for any outstanding Candy to the school.

On October 31st, we are going to have our “All Saints’ Eve Party.” The students will be helped by their parents and teachers to select a saint of their choice and dress up like that particular saint. They will bring their “All Saints Costumes” to school and dress up at noon. Please, be mindful of the students with tree nuts, Peanut/nuts, dairy products, and egg allergies when you prepare the goodies for that day. We would prefer goodies bought from the store. You can prepare some non-perishable treats for your child to share with his/her classmates. Each classroom has been assigned what to bring for the party (see details below).

The school council meeting will take place on October 16th at 6:30 pm. All parents are welcome to join us. Our Meat Raffle will take place on November 8, 2024 (see the flyer for more details). The ticket is $15.00 per person. Ticket sale is in progress. Call or text Sr. Maryann at 716 344 6266 to purchase your tickets, the time is fast approaching. If you would donate lottery tickets or $2.00, wine, or basket for the raffle that would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, October 10th marks the death anniversary of Sr. Elizabeth Domin, our former principal. Please remember her in your prayers.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Sr. Grace Dike, SCGR
