Dear Parents,
Each year, to get into the Christmas spirit and to encourage our students to learn how to give from what they have received, Sacred Heart Villa School participates in a Christmas charity drive event by donating small gifts to children in need in our neighborhood. We achieve this by collaborating with Sister Nora Sweeney from The Daughters of Charity Congregation, who works with the families in need at the Catholic Health Neighborhood Center. During the Christmas Season, Sr. Nora helps to organize a gift drive, which provides these families in need with personal items, $10.00 gift cards for food, a set of towels, bathmats, shampoo, body wash, a box of toys, and a Christmas bag filled with socks, underwear, hats and gloves for children. Sr. Nora has expressed that she will appreciate it if some people would like to donate more gift cards for food.
Before the Thanksgiving Break, we will prepare the Christmas tree with the angel ornaments by the main school entrance and the students will pick their ornaments to be placed on their gifts. Please, make sure that your child brings one Angel Ornament home. This is one of the ways we teach our students to be grateful for what they have by sharing with others who are poor. The donations will be picked up from the school by Sr. Nora and her team on December 7, 2023.
Please have all the donations in a gift bag and turn them in by December 2, 2023. Please, see the attached leaflet for suggestions of the items you can bring.
